Future Mommas!!!

After long hours of deciding who and who not to keep in our herd for future breeding and showing and stuff like that, we decided that these would be the little does that we kept for future breeding:

Of course, our dynamic duo Alice and Twilight....
Our pair of petite pixies Addison and Astrid....
Without a doubt, precious princess Darby....
Our uncatchable Payton.... (who unfortunately I couldn't get a good enough picture of)

We are still debating about Bella (who is of higher breeding status - a Smiley granddaughter) and maybe Harley. We'll see!

Updates

At least he thinks he's cute!

All 3 of us gazette gals have been real busy lately and haven't had time to update our blog, but I finally remembered to go on while I was still on the computer.
So today, all us workin' farmers rounded ourselves up to go trim Selsy's feet...and let me just say BLECK!!!!!!!! We really should remember to trim more often..... All it took was a rope, a big strong guy, and a couple of quick chicks!
Other than Stink-man, the rest of the herd has missed us because we haven't had the time to play in a week or so. Everybody was glad to see us, then became bored, and thusly walked away in that goatie ADHD kind of way.

I have just today decided that I must find a goat chariot and teach Max how to pull it. I think that would be just precious!

KILLER KITTIES!!!

Killers, right?

Here are some photos of our farm's own little pouncing prowling panthers! These are our barn cats and hunters (besides Hammer), Blue, Wabbles, and Binx. Not only did I do fun colors for kicks, but to help identify the kitties by their fur.

The easiest one is probably Blue because, well, he's blue. Blue loves to be cuddled and play with you but he smells so we don't usually let him rub himself all over pant legs.
Binx is our mysterious little wildcat who is thankfully recovering from a tumor on the end of his tail. He doesn't usually like it when people try and pick him up but he sure does love taking pictures!
Wabbles got his name because he was born without a femer bone in his back legs and well, wabbles everywhere. He's probably my personal favorite because he loves to be kissed and hugged and loved all the time.
Most of the kitties over at the main barn don't like to be seen, let alone get their picture taken. The ones that everybody usually sees over there every day are Baxter and Kushka, but I couldn't find them in order to snap a picture of them.

Farm Guardian

Here are some pictures of our little goof-ball who guards the whole entire farm every single day - Hammer! Hammer's an Australian cattle dog who likes to jump out of the tractor as soon as he sees a woodchuck or a rat. No wonder our cat's are all becoming so lazy, Hammer's doing all their work for them!

Though the goats don't particularly like Hammer, and he is known as "the enemy" or "that dog," and some of the mommas like to go after him as soon as he sets foot in the pasture, he's gotta be the best little farm doggie there is!

MAXIMILLIAN!!!!!

Here are a couple pictures of everybody on the farm's favorite goat in the whole wide world - Maxy!!!!! Max was a Stella baby, so unfortunately he is all white with no pigmentation. BUT all three of us gazette gals were there the day he and is twin sister Nessie were born. Though his lil' sista was rejected by their mother, Stella adored Max.

Max, like our other little whether Jazz, is being kept as an addition to our herd. Unlike his blue-eyed half brother, Max is not being kept for his looks. He happens to be an angel disguised as a goat (you know, with horns). Everytime one of us comes into the pasture in the morning, he's the only one who will bounce right over to see you while everyone else is moaning "Ugh, go away, we saw you yesterday."

Though Max's momma is deceased, his little angel sister Nessie is always close by his side. Now how adorable is that?

Janie

Poor Janie is all alone in her party-of-one family. Though her little buck Boy was sold a couple months ago, she has been thrown in with Selsy for a breeding session, so hopefully that'll all change soon.

Surprisingly, Janie likes hanging out with our little pygmy boy Echo. So much, that nowadays, we call them "boyfriend/girlfriend." Scaring, considering they're two different types of goat! I don't think they can really tell the difference though.

Frankie Family

This is the family of our only blue-eyed boers. Frankie is one of those does who loves to be in pictures and have people looking at her but doesn't actually like to be touched. Trying to catch her for feet trimming, shots, breeding sessions, or anything else that involves laying a hand on her makes her bolt like lightning. She had 2 little bucks last January: One is takes after his mother with her wide forehead and icy blue eyes. This one is Jasper Blue.

Jazz doesn't really like to be touched either, but he loves taking photo shoots! Frankie's other son Cursio was sold to an anonymus buyer.

Thelma Family

twilight

This is the smaller family of Thelma. Thelma is not part of a big family like some of our other does but is still a favored momma. Thelma is easily recognized by her redhead and spots covering her body.

Thelma's kids are Alice (half brown face with brown blotch on neck) and Twilight (all brown face and neck.) We are planning on using these little does for future breeding.

Kira Family

Even though our old doe Kira is unfortunately deceased, I am happy to post up pictures of her lovely daughters and granddaughter. So here they are....

Delilah (blond head and neck with bigger horns) is now about 2 yrs old and the momma of our precious Bellatrix, who is not as blond as her mom but still as pretty!

Esme looks just like her older sister (Delilah) but smaller. Her brother Cullen, who was all chocolate brown is sold to an anonymous buyer.

Sally Family

This is the list of the family of Sally:

Abby is Sally's 2 yr old daughter (out of Smiley), and Abby's daughter Darby (brown head, white body)

Addison and Astrid are Sally's daughters of this year. Addy is the "oreo" doe and Astrid has the one brown leg.

Dax Family

^Nessie^
Dax's adopted daughter

^Payton & Harley^

^Nougat & Fudgie^

^DAX^

Here are some pictures of the family of Dax.

The brown and caramel colored does are Fudgie (brown) and Nougat (caramel).

The mixed brown and white are Payton (bigger) and Harley (smaller).

The smaller caramel/white colored doe is Dax's adoptive daughter Nessie.

Dax is easily identified by her blond head and slight beard.

Goat Families

Okay, so I finally have enough brain cells stored up to make sense of our herd. Here's a quick listing of all of our mommas and babies and daddies and stuff. Also, another boer buck named Smiley will be mentioned at some points, and unfortunately, the great Smiley is now deceased.

Smiley + Kira (deceased) = Delilah (now 2 yrs old and a momma herself)

Smiley + Sally = Abrialla (Abby) (now 2 yrs old as well and a momma)

Smiley + Dax = Nougat/Fudgie (now both a year and a half and mommas in training)

Smiley + Stella (deceased) = Valentine (born on Feb. 14 and now sold)

Excelsior + Janie = Boy (deceased)

Now here are the babies that were more recently born. "Recently" as in late Dec. to early Jan.

Excelsior + Thelma = Alice/Twilight

Excelsior + Delilah = Bellatrix (Bella)

Excelsior + Stella (deceased) = Maximillian (Max)/Nessie (Nessie was unfortunately rejected by her mother but was taken in by the angel of a goat momma Dax. THANK GOD!!!!)

Excelsior + Dax = Payton/Harley (plus Nessie as the weeks went on)

Excelsior + Frankie = Jasper/Cursio (sold)

Excelsior + Kira (deceased) = Esme/Cullen (sold)

Excelsior + Abby = Darby

Excelsior + Sally = Addison/Astrid

All of our does have been put in with Excelsior for a breeding session and will be due around late Nov. to early/mid Dec. We are hoping for all girls becasue we already have names picked out! (We are being "forced" to sell all boys this time. Bummer.)

Pictures are on the way!!!!

Lily, our Silent Shepherd

Here are some pictures of Lily, our big, blind horse shepherd who thinks she's a goat. Sometimes, you can see her in the backround of other pictures silently watching over her precious goaties!
